Realization Of Pancasila Day, Commission XIII Of The House Of Representatives Reminds Every Policy Must Be Based On Human Rights

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the House of Representatives Andreas Hugo Pareira gave a note regarding the commemoration of Pancasila Day which is commemorated every June 1. He reminded that every policy taken by the government must be based on Human Rights (HAM).

"Pancasila is not only the basis of the state, but also a moral and constitutional basis for the enforcement of human rights (HAM) in Indonesia," Andreas said, Tuesday, June 2.

Andreas explained, among the five precepts contained in Pancasila, silama 2 which reads 'Just and Civilized Humanity' is at the heart of respecting human dignity and social justice in the midst of the life of the nation.

"The second principle is a common ground between the noble values of Pancasila and human rights principles. Every regulation, every policy made, must be in favor of justice, uphold human dignity, and reject all forms of discrimination," he explained.

According to Andreas, the commemoration of the Birthday of Pancasila is more than just an annual ceremonial. Because he said, this moment became the basis for strengthening a foothold as a sovereign and civilized nation in the midst of the flow of global change and pressure on transnational ideology.

The PDIP legislator for the NTT electoral district also emphasized that commemorating Pancasila was not just putting up banners or holding ceremonies. Moreover, only symbolic uploads on social media.

"The most important thing is the political courage and moral consistency to make Pancasila a real work ideology, both in legislation, budgeting, supervision, and public services," said Andreas.

As is known, Pancasila is the basis of the Indonesian state which was first formulated by the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno in the BPUPKI session on June 1, 1945. This idea emerged as the basis for building diverse nations, uniting the Indonesian people from various ethnicities, religions, and cultures.

After independence on August 17, 1945, Pancasila was officially used as the basis for the state in the Opening of the 1945 Constitution and continues to be the main guide in the life of the nation and state.

Andreas said that Bung Karno's spirit as stated in Pancasila must continue to be fought for. Especially for the second precept in Pancasila which is a mandate to guarantee human rights by providing social justice, fighting for the welfare of the people, to protecting diversity.

According to the head of the commission in the DPR in charge of human rights, guarantees for human rights enforcement can be realized by fighting for pro-people policies. Including, said Andreas, ensuring that all policies rest for the welfare of the Indonesian people.

"What does it mean that Indonesia Raya if the small people have to be crushed by rising prices for basic necessities, children lose access to quality education, and farmers lose their own land rights?" he said.

"Strengthening the Pancasila ideology means ensuring state policies favor the weak, not subject to the interests of capital alone," Andreas added.

Andreas also mentioned Bung Karno's statement that Pancasila is the best ideology for Indonesia to maintain unity.

"I'm not saying I created Pancasila. What I do is dig deep into our earth, our own traditions and I find five beautiful pearls," Andreas quoted Bung Karno as saying.

Furthermore, Andreas said Pancasila was a call for real work. He ensured that the DPR would oversee every government policy, including budget alignment for the progress of villages, education, health, and social protection.

"We will also continue to monitor human rights violations, environmental damage, and serious exploitation of the people," Andreas explained.

Andreas also invited all elements of the nation to make the commemoration of the Birthday of Pancasila a reflective and corrective momentum.

"Let's strengthen our commitment to build a fairer, stronger, and truly based on Pancasila values," he concluded.
