Minister Of Education And Technology: Lecturers In The 3T Region Become A Priority For Scholarship Recipients

JAKARTA - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto emphasized that lecturers who teach higher education in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas are a priority to receive doctoral scholarships.

"Of course we prioritize or have more attention to fellow lecturers who come from 3T areas," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 2.

In this scholarship, according to him, the Ministry of Education and Technology also opens a degree by research option, or the lecture process is carried out using research methods.

This, he said, allowed the lecturers not to leave their positions while in the study task.

"We have spoken to many rectors, so it is possible for a program called degree by research. So, in the doctoral program, lecturers do their research where they teach," he said.

Minister Brian mentioned that the degree by research program allows lecturers to study, but still teaches on their respective campuses to keep getting income from their respective campuses.

"Of course, S3 schools need more effort, yes, but they basically can still teach, still get income as lecturers at their home campuses," said Brian Yuliarto.
