CIREBON - The number of victims who died as a result of landslides in the excavation C mining area, Gunung Kuda, Cirebon Regency, West Java, increased to 20 people. The joint SAR team found another body on Monday, June 2 afternoon.

Cirebon Regent Imron Rosyadi said the bodies were found around the mine site by a joint team consisting of the TNI, Polri, Basarnas, BPBD, and volunteers.

"Just found one body, now it has been identified at the hospital," said Imron when met in Cirebon, quoted from Antara.

The evacuated body was identified as Sudiono (51), a resident of Dupantang District, Cirebon Regency. He has been buried by landslide material since Friday (30/5/2025).

With these findings, the total number of dead victims who were found was 20 people. However, the other five victims are still missing and are still in the process of being searched.

"We hope that all the victims are found soon. Earlier, sniffer dogs showed four suspected points. Hopefully, it can speed up the evacuation process," said Imron.

He added that the search would continue indefinitely. "The SAR team will continue to work until all the victims are found," he said.

The Cirebon Regency Government together with the West Java Provincial Government also paid special attention to the families of the victims, especially children who lost their parents in the tragedy.

"This morning with the Governor, we gathered the families of the victims. The children of the young victims will be sent to school," said Imron.

On the other hand, search efforts face tough challenges. The West Java BPBD Expert Public Relations Officer, Hadi Rahmat, explained that the terrain was very unstable, and there was a risk of further landslides.

Many avalanche materials have accumulated, and the location of the victims has not been detected with certainty. We remain alert to potential landslides during the evacuation," said Hadi.
