Reasons For Proposal For National Hero Title

In his remarks, the President of KAI Nasrullah Nawawi expressed his hope that the advocate and justice fighter Adnan Buyung Nasution would be awarded the title of National Hero.

"We propose that Bang Adnan Buyung Nasution be recognized as a National Hero for his contribution in fighting for justice and law enforcement," said Nasrullah, greeted by applause from the participants.

He also mentioned other names such as Yap Thiam Hien, Artidjo Alkostar, and Hoegeng Iman Santoso, who are considered worthy of similar recognition because of their integrity and dedication to the law.

The commemoration of KAI's 17th Anniversary is also coupled with the inauguration of the DKI Jakarta KAI DPD board for the 2025-2030 period and the appointment of 20 new advocates who have participated in the entire education and exam process according to Law no. 18 of 2003 concerning Advocates.

Advocates Should Not Continue To Be Blamed

Nasrullah reiterated that the position of advocate as an equal law enforcer in the judicial system is not the party that can be unilaterally blamed when there are allegations of bribery practices.

"Advocates are often used as scapegoats in bribery cases in court. In fact, the problem is far more complex, concerning institutional integrity, the justice system, to ethical enforcement," he explained.

He also appealed to polemics about the number of advocate organizations not to continue to be debated, and to encourage the improvement of the professional quality of advocates.

Poems And Appreciation Of Legal Figures

The event was also enlivened by the reading of a poem entitled Pacul and Martil by the Secretary General of the Central PWI Wina Armada, which also distributed his work books to KAI administrators as a form of appreciation for the struggle of advocates.

As part of a series of commemorations of the 17th Anniversary, KAI will hold a national seminar and FGD (Focus Group Discussion) which raises the theme of the struggle of Indonesian legal figures in building a justice system with integrity.
