JAKARTA - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, and the Minister of Culture of the French Republic, Rachida Dati, signed five frameworks to strengthen strategic collaboration between the two countries in the field of culture. The signing took place in the Indonesian Cultural Dialogue Forum "France" which was held in the Borobudur Manohara area, Magelang, as part of President Emmanuel Macron's official state visit to Indonesia.
"This is an important milestone in the journey of cultural diplomacy between Indonesia and France. Through these five collaborations we not only establish inter-institutional relations, but rather bring together cultural actors, build space for collaboration across civilization and generation," said Fadli. The five agreed cooperations include priority fields in the development of culture, namely:
1. Cooperation in the field of Summary between the Ministry of Culture of Indonesia and the Ministry of Culture of France which includes joint exhibitions, curatorial exchanges, to digitizing collections to increase public access.
2. Collaboration in the field of Film and Audiovisual between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia and CNC (Centre national du cinrema et de l image animAL), with the main focus of creating a strong film ecosystem through the exchange of filmmakers, joint production, and cooperation at various film festivals.
3. Cooperation in the field of Film Capacity Development between the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and La Femis, to develop residential, training and mentoring programs for young Indonesian filmmakers.
4. Collaboration in the field of Research and Collection Studies between BLU Museums and Cultural Heritage (IHA) and researchnaire franhuise d'ExtrMime-Orient (EFEO). "Collaboration between countries must involve the perpetrators and drivers of today's cultural innovation. Because of them, the face of the future of Indonesian culture and the world will be determined," said Fadli.
In a dialogue with cultural actors, the French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati also appreciated the presence of young Indonesian talents who showed the progress and diversity of the Indonesian cultural ecosystem, from traditional to contemporary, as well as digital and popular culture. Minister Fadli responded, "The presence of these cultural actors shows our living and dynamic cultural ecosystem.
