JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that three main connecting access roads between hamlets in Wombo Kalonggo Village, Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi, were still cut off due to the flash floods that hit the area.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said that currently joint officers are focusing on accelerating recovery and improving basic infrastructure for citizen mobility and distribution of aid, after previously ensuring that the victims have been evacuated.

"It has receded now, residents are working together to clean up mud deposits. There are still three connecting roads between clouds that have been cut off so as not to hinder mobility," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 28.

According to him, Wombo Kalonggo Village became the worst affected area due to flash floods triggered by high rainfall intensity, on Tuesday (27/5) at around 15.00 WITA.

The Donggala BPBD rapid reaction team noted that this disaster caused two to die due to being swept away by heavy currents, while one other person suffered minor injuries.

In addition, about 100 families fled to safer places to avoid further risks. Flash floods reportedly also damaged 50 housing units, a bridge that was cut off, and four educational facilities that were affected.

"Further data collection is still being carried out to determine the amount of damage and the needs of residents," said Abdul.
