2 Israeli Embassy Staff Shot Dead In Washington

JAKARTA - Two staff of the Isael embassy near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC, United States, were shot dead. Two perpetrators were arrested

Two staff, a man and a woman, were shot while leaving the show on Wednesday, May 21 evening local time.

"Two Israeli embassy staff were shot tonight from close range while attending a Jewish event at the capital's Jewish Museum in Washington DC," said spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Washington Tal Naim Cohen.

"We have full trust in law enforcement authorities at the local and federal levels to arrest shooters and protect Israeli representatives and Jewish communities across the United States," the statement continued.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was immediately detained at the scene and is being investigated.

"There is no active threat," said DC Mayor Muriel Bowser during a press conference at the Metropolitan Police Department.

"I would like to emphasize that we will not tolerate this violence or hatred in our city. We will not tolerate any acts of terrorism. We will unite as a community in the coming days and weeks to convey a clear message that we will not tolerate antisemitism," continued Bowser.
