MANOKWARI - The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) said the death toll from flash floods and landslides in Jim Village, Catubouw District, Arfak Mountains Regency, West Papua, reached 10 people.

Head of Basarnas Manokwari Yefri Sabaruddin said the victims who had been evacuated by the joint SAR Team until the fifth day of the operation were 10 people.

"The fifth day of the SAR operation today found one victim, previously nine victims had been evacuated," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 21.

He mentioned six of the ten identified victims, namely Harun Maidodga, Yoseph Ermilianus Efrem, Porman Takaliumang, Okden Wote, Joni Rahawari, and Oce Takaliumang.

The SAR operation will continue on Thursday (22/5), because there are still 10 victims who were declared missing after the flash floods and landslides that occurred on May 16, 2025 at around 21.00 WIT.

"The other four victims are still waiting for the identification results carried out by the West Papua Police's DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) Team," said Yefri.

The joint SAR team temporarily suspended the search operation on the fifth day at around 14.00 WIT due to weather conditions due to heavy rains that endanger the safety of personnel.

"There were 24 victims in this incident. Four people survived, ten died, and ten in search," explained Yefri.
