KPK Waits For Prosecutor's Report To Summon Firli Bahuri Who Is Suspected Of Leaking OTT Harun Masiku

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said the follow-up to the facts revealed at the trial of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto would be carried out. However, the process is waiting for a report from the public prosecutor (JPU).

This was conveyed by Setyo when asked about the statements of his investigator, Rossa Purbo Bekti when testifying at the interim investigation and bribery trial (PAW) member of the Indonesian House of Representatives with Hasto as a defendant. His subordinates had mentioned that former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri leaked a hand arrest operation (OTT).

This leak, Rossa said, resulted in Hasto's failure to be caught in OTT in 2020. In fact, the politician should have been arrested along with several people for allegedly committing bribes so that Harun Masiku could sit as a legislator of the DPR RI through PAW.

"Yes, later from that process, the prosecutor has the opportunity whether there is information as a clue that must be followed up for the next step," Setyo told reporters at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 20.

Setyo asked all parties to follow the trial before making more assumptions. Because, his party is still focused on proving Hasto's actions in court.

"Yes, this trial process is ongoing. It is an examination process and it is something that is not only like yesterday it was carried out unilaterally but now all of them can present witnesses, defendants, and experts who are all present," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK was urged to summon Firli Bahuri et al as the leader for the 2019-2024 period after investigator Rossa Purbo Bekti testified that there was an attempt to intervene during the interim replacement bribery (PAW) operation for members of the DPR RI in 2020. This step is considered to be able to show that the institution is indiscriminate.

"Do not let the KPK be said to be not objective in enforcing the law when it comes to its own leadership," said Praswad Nugraha as a former KPK investigator to reporters in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, May 14.

Praswad said Rossa's testimony should be evidence that can be followed up. This statement is based on Article 185 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"Based on the facts of the trial, it was revealed that not only Hasto was involved in the investigation, but instead the Chairman of the KPK, who was then held by Firli Bahuri, was the main actor in the investigation that was being carried out by the KPK," he said.
