JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Barelang Police exposed the practice of prostitution under the guise of a ladies company (LC) agency or song guide in Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri).

Kasatreskrim Polresta Barelang AKP Debby Tri Andretian said this disclosure began with reports from the public who were restless and suspected of having hidden prostitution activities under the auspices of the agency Y.

"From the community's reports, we disguised ourselves and managed to lure the perpetrators to offer LC services," said Debby in Batam, Saturday, May 18, as reported by Antara.

After an agreement was made between investigators who disguised themselves with the perpetrators of the LC service provider, the Baralang Police Satreskrim Team went straight to the meeting location and carried out a raid.

The raid was carried out in a hotel room in the Batu Ampar area, where two naked women with the initials N and R were found as contraceptives which were then secured as evidence.

From the raid, two perpetrators of the crime of trafficking in persons or as pimps with the initials IF (26) and HB (30) were arrested.

"This IF actor plays the role of field coordinator, HB as a hairstylist and bank account owner who is suspected of being used for prostitution service transactions (open BO)," he said.

He explained that the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to offer sexual services through the agency's internal WhatsApp group using the codeword "CD3" with a rate of IDR 3.5 million for one date.

"If perpetrators are tasked with disseminating information to LCs under agency "Y", while HB is suspected of facilitating financial transactions," he explained.

In addition to arresting the two perpetrators, officers also confiscated other evidence, in the form of four cell phones from the perpetrator and LC, a white Mitsubishi Expander car, and a BCA account book in the name of HB.

The two perpetrators were named as suspects, charged with Article 296 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 506 of the Criminal Code concerning obscene acts that were used as habits or sources of livelihood, with a maximum imprisonment of 1 year and 4 months.
