JAKARTA - Member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Hardiyanto Kenneth, highlighted the problem of illegal parking that is still mushrooming in Jakarta. Kenneth suggested that the Governor of DKI Jakarta dissolve the Parking Management Unit (UP) of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency if it was still incompetent to eradicate illegal parking.
This was conveyed by Kenneth after the DKI Jakarta DPRD Commission C meeting with the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency which discussed parking management issues in Jakarta.
"In the future, if we look at this Parking UPT, it's like this, maybe we will suggest to the Governor to just disband it. We'll just auction it to the private sector so that the private sector manages it," said Kenneth at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Wednesday, May 14.
According to Kenneth, the DKI Provincial Government can cooperate with the private sector in managing illegal parking into official parking whose retribution is received by the Regional Revenue Agency with an optimal value.
"Later, it will go to Bapenda. Bapenda will control it. Bapenda will (manage directly) if the Parking Road is on-street. If it's off-street, it's private management, to Bapenda. So the source of income for tax collection is to Bapenda," said Kenneth.
Kenneth emphasized that Jakarta, which is projected to become a global city, requires considerable regional income. In fact, if managed properly, the levy of parking fees in buildings and roads can reach trillions of rupiah per year.
"If I see how many meetings with them, they don't even know what they want to do. The figure they gave us is all ridiculous. So their target is only Rp. 30 billion a year. It's impossible," said Kenneth.

Therefore, this member of Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD also asked Pramono to evaluate the performance of his subordinates as a whole. He is worried that the game of individuals in the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency will hamper the eradication of illegal parking.
"This Transportation Agency must also be evaluated. If the work is lazy or there is no passion, it can be replaced, can be removed, or shifted. Don't be there anymore, look for someone who can really work," explained Kenneth.
"I see Mr. Pramono very sorry, if he has a subordinate whose model is like this, right. He is so enthusiastic, so he has a heart to serve the people of Jakarta. But his subordinates can't help, they can't translate what he wants. It's a pity," he added.
