Two Thugs Of Tanah Abang Arrested By Police During Extortion On The Streets

JAKARTA - Two Kebon Kacang thugs in the Tanah Abang area were again arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Anti Thugs Team on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

The two suspects are thugs who specialize in truck drivers and box cars passing through the Thamrin City area, Kebon Kacang Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.

Both had the initials S (39) and TP (25). They were arrested while forcing the driver of the box car to pay illegal parking fees of Rp. 20,000, with threats.

"We do not give space for thuggery acts. We will take firm action against anyone who intimidates residents in public spaces," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed, Sunday, May 11.

For further processing, the two suspects were taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further investigation.

"The two perpetrators were charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion, with a maximum prison sentence of 9 years," he said.

In addition, the police also brought order to 109 flags and 2 banners belonging to community organizations (ormas) during the 2025 Brantas Jaya operation.

The operation was carried out simultaneously in 8 line police areas in Central Jakarta. Meanwhile, the area with the most attributes decreased was recorded in Sawah Besar District, with 32 flags from various mass organizations.
