JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that input and contribution from the younger generation are needed to strengthen government programs in order to improve people's welfare.

This was conveyed when he received an audience with the Central Board of the Indonesian Christian Student Movement (GMKI) at the vice president's office, Jakarta, Friday, May 9.

"Providing input on how these young people can contribute and also provide support to government programs in order to improve the welfare of the community," said the Vice President, as conveyed by the General Chairperson of GMKI Jefri Gultom in his statement after the meeting.

In his meeting, the Vice President invited the younger generation, especially those who are members of religious organizations, to actively participate in national development.

This is in line with one of Astacita's points related to strengthening the role of youth and strengthening tolerance between religious believers as a foundation for realizing a just, prosperous, and civilized society.

The Vice President emphasized that the younger generation hold a strategic position in the national development process, especially in the midst of the demographic bonus momentum that Indonesia is enjoying.

As is known, the government under the leadership of President Prabowo has a great commitment to empowering youth.

On several occasions, Gibran reminded the importance of the role of the younger generation in completing development towards Indonesia Emas 2045.

Indonesia is predicted to reach the peak of the demographic bonus by 2030, with more than half of the population at productive age.

"This opportunity will not be repeated, where around 208 million of our population will be at a productive age, where the productive generation, the younger generation, has a greater proportion so that it has a significant influence in determining the direction of progress," said Gibran some time ago.

Meanwhile, in the meeting with PP GMKI, Gibran also discussed access to education and government programs, such as free nutritious eating programs.

Closing the meeting, the GMKI Central Executive Board also directly conveyed an invitation to the Vice President to open the GMKI Congress which will be held in Samarinda, East Kalimantan in mid-May 2025.

"We from the Central Board of the Indonesian Christian Student Movement today are grateful to be accepted by the Vice President to officially invite him to open the GMKI Congress in Samarinda on May 17," said Jefri.
