Jakarta Runner-up Online Gambling Case, Pramono Highlights The Role Of Central Government

Governor Pramono Anung responded to a report from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) which placed Jakarta as the second highest province in online or judol transactions after West Java.

"Yes, because the population is dense and the population is large, and also people have used their cellphone technology there," Pramono said when met after the Local Eye Fest event in Jakarta, Thursday, May 8.

Pramono said the eradication of online gambling was comprehensive. The most effective way to eradicate judol is to completely close access to its website and this authority rests with the central government.

"Because I don't think there are many benefits to campaign, except for those whose gambling is closed. Like some countries that really close online gambling, so I include if it really wants to be eradicated, it will be completely closed in Indonesia," said Pramono.

PPATK previously released a report on the highest case of online gambling transactions in West Java, then Jakarta, Central Java, Banten, and East Java.

Meanwhile, when compared to last year, the number of online gambling players in Jakarta increased. Because, previously in the first quarter of 2024 Jakarta was in the top fifth position.
