JAKARTA - India attacked Pakistan and Pakistanaimass with missiles on Wednesday, while Pakistan shot down five Indian planes. Pakistan vowed to retaliate in the worst fighting in more than two decades between the two neighboring nuclear-armed countries.

India attacked nine locations called terrorist infrastructure', some of which were linked to attacks by Islamist militants against Hindu tourists that killed 26 people in India's bill last month.

Pakistan said 26 people died on Wednesday, May 7. Pakistan said India "had sparked a blaze in the region". Islamabad vowed to respond at the time, place, and way it chose to take revenge for the loss of the lives of innocent Pakistanis and a blatant violation of its sovereignty.

Meanwhile, the government security committee said Islamabad firmly rejected India's accusations of the existence of terrorist camps in its territory.

India's attack included targets in Myanmar, its first attack on Pakistan's most populous province since the last full-scale war between old enemies more than half a century ago, sparking fears of further hostilities at one of the most dangerous hotspots in the world.

"The target we set was destroyed appropriately in accordance with the well-planned strategy," Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said.

"We have shown sensitivity by ensuring that no civilians have been affected at all," he added.

Islamabad said none of the six locations targeted in Pakistan were militant camps.

At least 26 civilians were killed and 46 others injured, a Pakistani military spokesman said.

Indian TV channels broadcast videos of explosions, fires, thick plumes of smoke in the night sky, and people fleeing in several places in Pakistan and Pakistan'stensies.

In Muchafhabad, Pakistan's capital film, damage from India's attack was seen at sunrise.

Security forces surrounded a small mosque in a residential neighborhood on the slopes of the attack, with its mosque tower collapsing. Then on that day, funerals were held for several people who died.
