Ordering Community Disturbing Ormas, TNI Deploys Military Police Intelligence

JAKARTA - The Central Commander of the TNI Military Police, Maj. Gen. Yusri Nuryanto, said the TNI deployed an intelligence unit to assist the authorities in bringing order to a number of community organizations (ormas) that were troubling the community.

Yusri said that the intelligence of the TNI Military Police has a function of investigation and physical security (lidpamfik) that can assist intelligence from other institutions to deal with a problem. As for the purpose, the TNI will both help in the creation of security.

"We are always with the National Police to maintain security and public order," said Major General Yusri during a press conference at the TNI Military Police Coordination Meeting at the TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 7, which was confiscated by Antara.

He added that later the information and analysis obtained by the TNI Military Police would be combined with information from the State Intelligence Agency and the Strategic Intelligence Agency to prevent disturbances by mass organizations.

According to him, legal action will be taken against thuggery under the guise of mass organizations or against individual TNI soldiers if they are suspected of protecting these mass organizations. However, the legal process will be carried out in accordance with the provisions.

"If there are civilians in the mass organization, they are said to be civilians, so later the police will handle them. If there are TNI personnel, then we will handle them," said Dapuspom.

Currently, there are many views from several parties regarding the existence of disturbing mass organizations, especially after the disruption to the BYD automotive factory in Subang, West Java, which was allegedly carried out by a mass organization group.
