Prabowo Believes Cambodia Strengthens Efforts To Maintain Stability And Peace In ASEAN

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto believes that the contribution and views of the Senate President of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen strengthen the efforts of ASEAN member countries in maintaining stability and peace in the region.

This was conveyed in a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Senate President Hun Sen during a series of his official visits to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, May 5.

"I am sure that Your Majesty's view will enrich our joint efforts to maintain peace, stability, and mutual prosperity in the Southeast Asian region," Prabowo said at the meeting.

In his introduction, President Prabowo expressed his respect for the presence of the President of the Cambodian Royal Senate in the country.

The Head of State expressed his joy to be able to meet again with Senate President Hun Sen since his last meeting at Pnom Penh in September 2024, or before Prabowo was officially inaugurated as President of the Republic of Indonesia on October 20, 2024.

President Prabowo gave high appreciation for the strategic role of Senate President Hun Sen in Southeast Asia.

The President welcomed the plan to convey the views of Senate President Hun Sen regarding the peace process in Cambodia and the role in Southeast Asia in the academic and regional forums in Jakarta.

Senate President Sen Hun is planned to attend a series of ERIA Leadership Lecture activities in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/5).

"I am happy and welcome Your Majesty's plan to convey various views on the peace process in Cambodia and the role in ASEAN which will be presented at the ERIA School of Government and at the ASEAN Secretariat," said the President.

In the context of Indonesia's history and commitment to regional peace, President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia still upholds the principles of dialogue and reconciliation.

President Prabowo stressed that Indonesia will continue to prioritize peaceful conflict resolution in every event.

"As supporters of peace in Cambodia in the 1980s and 1990s, Indonesia's commitment remains steadfast," said the President.

"We will continue to prioritize dialogue, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in every event. We will prioritize conflict resolutions peacefully," Prabowo said.
