CIREBON - Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Cirebon Regency, West Java, ensures that as many as 91 elderly people (elderly) from their area can be dispatched to the Holy Land in the 2025 Hajj season.

Head of the Hajj and Umrah Organization Section of the Cirebon Regency Ministry of Religion, Mualim, said that prospective Hajj pilgrims in the elderly category had been declared healthy and fit to fly based on the results of a tiered medical examination.

"Of the total 2,416 hajj candidates from Cirebon Regency, 91 of them are elderly aged 65 years and over," he said in Cirebon, Saturday.

According to him, the elderly have gone through phase one and two health checks, as well as physical fitness tests.

Thus, he said, they will certainly be ready to be flown to Saudi Arabia to perform this year's pilgrimage.

He guarantees that the physical and mental condition of the elderly congregation is the main concern, considering that the implementation of the pilgrimage requires excellent stamina and strong psychological readiness.

The Ministry of Religion of Cirebon Regency, continued Mualim, is working with the local Health Office to provide intensive medical assistance to all pilgrims, especially the elderly group.

The elderly have also received health education, physical training, and periodic health checks. We have prepared a health team in each batch to accompany them while in Saudi Arabia," he said.

He said that this year the Ministry of Religion implemented an elderly friendly policy in accordance with the direction of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion.

In this policy, he said, elderly pilgrims will get priority services while carrying out the pilgrimage.

Mualim mentioned several forms of service, namely accommodation close to places of worship, wheelchair facilities, and the placement of special assistants to help pilgrims who need more attention.

"In addition to health aspects, the psychological aspects of the congregation are also a concern," he said.

Mualim appealed to the family to provide moral support so that the elderly, remain mentally stable ahead of departure.

"On average, the elderly are very enthusiastic and impatient to fulfill the fifth Islamic pillars. We as officers have a moral responsibility to ensure that they can worship smoothly and comfortably," he said.
