Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Adies Kadir, said that the discussion of the Asset Confiscation Bill (RUU) is still waiting for the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (RUU KUHAP) to be completed first.
"So after the new Criminal Procedure Code we worked on (Asset Confiscation Bill), there are two who are waiting for this Criminal Procedure Code, the Asset Confiscation Law and also the Police Law. All are waiting for the Criminal Procedure Code," Adies said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 2.
Because, he said, the Criminal Procedure Code will later contain a mechanism for confiscation of assets resulting from criminal acts.
"The whole point is in the Criminal Procedure Code. This Criminal Procedure Code will regulate how to confiscate these assets," he said.
Adies said that his party was waiting for the discussion of the Criminal Procedure Code Bill to be completed first because it would later be synchronized with the Asset Confiscation Bill and other bills.
"If the Criminal Procedure Code has been completed, yes, it is synchronized so that later the Police Law or our Confiscation of Assets will work, later the results of other Criminal Procedure Codes will not be synchronized. So, right (later) revision again, work twice," he said.
Adies also said that this step was needed so that the asset confiscation mechanism was not carried out on the basis of abuse of power (abuse of power).
"Don't let the confiscation of these assets be used as abuse of power, right like that. We also don't want that," he said.
However, he emphasized that it is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's intention to support the presence of the Asset Confiscation Bill so that it will encourage the relevant commission not to drag on in discussing it.
"In principle, we agree with the President that we will discuss it immediately, so we will coordinate with friends in Commission III to be a little more aggressive in completing the Criminal Procedure Code Bill," said Adies.

"In order to eradicate corruption, I support the Asset Confiscation Act," said Prabowo.
