SERANG - Banten Governor Andra Soni asked all schools, both public and private, not to hold the diplomas of alumni anymore on the grounds of arrears of costs.
"I got a report that (there was a certificate) that was held back. Thank God we are currently recording," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 2.
He revealed that currently the Banten Provincial Government has redeemed around 70 diplomas previously detained by schools. The provincial government will continue to collect data to ensure graduates receive their rights.
"There have been around 70 alumnus who have received the withheld diplomas and then later we will be recording and will follow up so that other diplomas can be given to their owners," said Andra.
The governor of Banten, several schools that previously withheld diplomas, have now begun to collaborate to join the Free School program for the private high school, vocational and vocational levels. He emphasized that the detention of diplomas is very detrimental to students, especially in finding jobs.
"In the future, this school will cover costs, including building money, registration money and others. So there is no longer any reason to hold the diploma," he said.
Andra hopes that all students and alumni will get access to fair education and not be burdened by financial administration problems.
