SEMARANG - The Semarang City Government has made the tariff for the Trans Semarang Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) mass transportation for seven days, starting from May 2-8, 2025, as it welcomes the 478th Anniversary of Semarang City.
"So, starting May 2, for the next seven days, we will free all passenger categories or tariffs of Rp. 0. Unconditionally," said Head of the Trans Semarang Public Service Agency (BLU) Haris Setyo Yunanto, in Semarang, Friday, May 2.
According to him, all passengers are free to ride the Trans Semarang BRT, but still get tickets as usual even though they don't pay.
"You don't have to pay (tickets, ed.), but we still have data. Later the person concerned will still get a ticket as evidence," he said.
He explained that the free Trans Semarang BRT ride program is an effort to increase public interest in using the Semarang City transportation mode.
With the increasing public demand for the mass transportation mode of BRT Trans Semarang, it will be able to reduce the number of accidents and traffic congestion.
"Hopefully, with this program to the people of Semarang City, we urge them to be more interested in public services in Semarang City," he said.
Meanwhile, Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti said that the free program to ride the Trans Semarang BRT for seven days was a gift for the 478th Anniversary of Semarang City.
