The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has officially received the transfer of the management of the State Confiscated Property Storage House (Rupbasan) which was previously managed by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas).
This was marked by the handover of the first phase of the corruption and the signing of a joint agreement between the two institutions which was held at the East Jakarta Rupbasan, East Jakarta, Wednesday, April 30.
Junior Attorney General for AGO Development, Bambang Sugeng Rukmono, said this transition was an implementation of Article 76 of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 155 of 2024.
The article states that the management of confiscated objects and confiscated state items was transferred from the Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Imipas to the Attorney General's Office unit in charge of asset recovery, namely the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA).
This step is also part of a national strategy to strengthen the criminal justice system, optimize asset recovery, and support the completion and ratification of the Bill on Asset Confiscation and amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law.
Bambang emphasized that the management of state confiscated objects is not just an administrative process, but also contains a big responsibility in maintaining the integrity of the legal proof process.
"As a dominus of litis, the prosecutor has a central role in maintaining the integrity of evidence from the investigation stage to the implementation of the court's decision. Therefore, the management of the corruption must ensure that the value of evidence and the economics of confiscated goods are maintained," he said, confiscated by Antara.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Imipas, Asep Kurnia, said that this transfer also aims to simplify work flow, reduce overlap in authority, and increase accountability in the management of state assets originating from legal processes.
"With this transfer, it is hoped that there will be stronger synergy for the Prosecutor's Office in the management of evidence and the confiscation of the state, starting from the confiscation process to the execution of court decisions," he said.
