BANDUNG - "Indonesia, which has only ten years of independence, is able to appear as leaders of Asian and African nations." The statement of the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon opened the Filateli Exhibition of the Asia-African Conference in Bandung, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference (KAA), Monday, April 28.

Held at the Asia Afrika Post Office, this exhibition is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and PT Pos Indonesia, the Indonesian Filatelist Association, the Bandung City Government, the West Java Provincial Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.

Fadli Zon emphasized that KAA is not just a historical event, but a milestone in the birth of solidarity, struggle for independence, and world peace. "The spirit of Bandung is not over. We still have historical debts, including supporting Palestinian independence," he added in front of around 120 invited guests.

Through this exhibition, Fadli invited the public to see stamps as historical witnesses and symbols of national sovereignty. "Prangko is a medium of cultural diplomacy. It reflects the identity and struggle of the nation," he said.

In this event, the Ministry of Culture also launched the 70th Anniversary Cover of KAA with the theme "One History, Various Cultures", as well as preparing the issuance of 10 volumes of Indonesian history books ahead of 80 years of independence.

This filateli exhibition presents three main collection groups that bring visitors down the traces of the history of the Asia Africa Conference. Among the collections on display, there are a variety of stamps and filatile objects that were specifically published to commemorate KAA. Each post and memorabilia witnessed the silent spirit of solidarity that connects Asia and Africa seven decades ago.

Not only that, more than a hundred photo documentations from the Fadli Zon Library collection also decorate the exhibition space. Through these historic portraits, visitors are invited to look back at the crucial moments in the middle of the 1955 Bandung atmosphere, when the leaders of the country gathered to fight for independence and equality of degree.

As a complement, literacy in the form of books, newspapers, magazines, and other issues related to KAA is also presented, enriching the context of the history raised. Each page, every archive exhibited, seems to talk about the determination of new nations to stand parallel in the eyes of the world.

This exhibition is open to the public from April 28 to May 3, 2025, giving the wider community the opportunity to dive back into the spirit of Bandung which still resonates to this day.

Director of Business and Financial Services of PT Pos Indonesia, Haris, stated that this exhibition is a cross-generational bridge. "Prangko is not just a means of payment, but a track record of culture, history, and the nation's struggle," he said.

Through the Philately Exhibition of the Asia-African Conference, the Minister of Culture Fadli Zon wants to raise historical awareness, strengthen the spirit of solidarity, and strengthen the importance of 70 years of KAA in the midst of the current world challenges.
