JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) noted that since early 2025, 32 disturbances had occurred due to kite threads that were caught in the upper flow electricity network (LAA) and train pantographs.

KCIC General Manager Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said this disruption forced the train to reduce speed and even temporarily stop for the evacuation and inspection process before it was declared safe to continue the journey.

"Of course this can endanger travel and disrupt the comfort of the journey of allPORTed passengers," Eva said in an official statement, Sunday, April 27.

Eva said KCIC appealed to the public not to play kites around thectionsh high-speed train line because it has the potential to endanger train travel and damage electricity infrastructure that supportsASH operations.

The kite thread wrapped around the LAA component or pantograph is at risk of causing electrical damage and technical problems. In some cases, KCIC needs to carry out intensive care to replacement of components, which has an impact on reducing the number of facilities ready for operation.

"Playing kites near the Rightline can endanger train travel, damage electricity infrastructure, and disrupt thousands of passengers," he said.

As an anticipatory measure, KCIC has alerted 530 security officers on guard for 24 hours every 500 meters along thections line. In addition, the high-speed train line is also equipped with a foreign object detection system and 1,396 CCTVs spread to monitor and ensure operational security.

KCIC has also carried out 34 dozens of socialization activities to schools and residential areas around the route to increase public awareness. In addition to direct education, KCIC is working with the kite community and local security forces to reduce the potential risks of activities around the track.
