Re-applied, Structure In High School Help Students Find Interests And Talents

JAKARTA The government has officially re-implemented the network system at the high school level and the announcement will be made directly by President Prabowo Subianto on the commemoration of National Education Day, May 2, 2025.

"It will also be officially announced on May 2, 2025," said Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR, Lalu Hadrian Irfani in a written statement, Sunday, April 27, 2025.

According to him, the decision will end the trial period for the policy "without explanation" which was previously implemented through Permendikbud, Research and Technology Number 12 of 2024 by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim.

The policy had sparked widespread debate, because it was deemed to have no solid legal basis and contradicted a number of regulations above it, including PP No. 17 of 2010, the National Education System Law No. 20 of 2003, as well as the basic spirit of the constitution.

"The Permendikbud did not explicitly revoke the previous regulation. So, in terms of legal norms there was a conflict," added Lalu.

This politician from the PKB faction explained that Commission X of the DPR together with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, had conducted an in-depth study based on empirical data from the field. The results of the study show that the network system is still needed to help students find the focus of interest and talent from an early age, as well as provide a more structured direction in preparing higher education and the world of work.

He emphasized that the return of the essential system was not considered a setback, but as a refinement of the education system that was more in favor of students' readiness. This policy is also considered capable of answering the increasingly specific challenges of the world of work and higher education.

"So Commission X of the DPR proposes after looking at empirical data, coupled with a study conducted by the Ministry of Education and Culture," said Lalu.
