The Riau Islands Regional Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate is targeting 10 nightclubs in raids to prevent illicit trafficking and drug abuse in Batam City.
Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Police Commissioner Zahwani Pandra Arsyad in Batam, Saturday, said the raid on nightclubs was carried out from Friday (25/4) night until Saturday morning.
"This raid is in order to prevent the abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs and alcoholic beverages without a permit," said Pandra.
He detailed the 10 nightclubs targeted by raids, namely Panda Club, Redfox, Barfly, Daddy's Bar, Fat Willy's Bar, Dragon KTV & pub, Square, Bigbros, Atmos Club, and village foreigners.
Pandra said the raid activity which started at 23.00 WIB and was centered in the Batam refinery area involved 91 joint personnel, consisting of 83 personnel from the Riau Islands Police Narcotics Directorate, three Propam Sector personnel, three Dokkes Sector personnel, and two personnel from the Public Relations Division.

"The examination was carried out selectively on visitors, including urine tests on a number of suspected individuals," he said.
The results of the raids obtained 60 bottles of alcoholic beverages without distribution permits at the Atmos Club, one illegal alcoholic drink in Bule Village, and an examination of 10 visitors at five suspected nightclubs.
According to Pandra, the raid is a tangible part of the implementation of the prevention, eradication, abuse and illicit drug trafficking (P4GN) program which continues to be implemented by the Riau Islands Police to create an environment that is clean from drugs and other addictive substances.
Pandra emphasized that similar raids will continue to be carried out regularly and thoroughly as part of the Riau Islands Police' preventive and repressive steps in creating a community environment that is free from drugs and other illegal goods.
