Many have questioned the motive for the murder of a mother named Hely Febriyanti (50) who died at the hands of her own biological child on Thursday (24/4/2025) at around 13.30 WIB. The East Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police, South Sumatra, has now revealed its motive due to debt problems.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East OKU Police, AKP Mukhlis in Martapura, Saturday, said that the murder committed by the suspect with the initials GW was motivated because of a debt of Rp. 3,000,000.

The victim, who served as the Temporary Acting (Pjs) Head of Bangun Rejo Village, Belitang II District, East OKU Regency, died at the hands of his own biological child by being shot using a homemade firearm.

"The victim and the perpetrator had an argument over the debt problem," said Mukhlis, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, April 23.

The debate between the perpetrator and the victim continued until the shooting incident caused Hely to die.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh above the knee and had undergone intensive treatment at Charitas Hospital, but was declared dead.

"The victim was rushed to Purwodadi Health Center and then referred to Charitas Hospital for medical treatment. But fate said otherwise, the victim was declared dead," he said.

Following up on reports from residents, his party moved quickly to process the crime scene (TKP) and managed to secure the perpetrators just hours after the murder occurred.

In addition to homemade firearms, his party also secured several other pieces of evidence from the crime scene, namely a CCTV DVR machine and one victim's shirt.

"Currently, the suspect and evidence have been secured at the East OKU Police Headquarters for further legal processing," he said.
