KAI Blacklist Perpetrators Of Sexual Harassment At Tanah Abang Station

JAKARTA - KAI Commuter includes the identity of the perpetrator of sexual harassment at Tanah Abang Station on a blacklist or blacklist of Commuter Line transportation users as a form of commitment to create safe and comfortable public transportation.

VP Corporate Secretary Joni Martinus said his party had moved quickly since receiving information about the incident from officers in the field regarding sexual harassment that befell a female user of the Commuter Line at Tanah Abang Station on April 2, 2025.

The perpetrator who was suspected of committing indecent acts has been identified through analytic CCTV search.

"The identity of the perpetrator has been entered into the CCTV Analytic database to provide notifications as a blacklisted person, if at any time the alleged perpetrator enters the station area again, the person concerned cannot use the Commuter Line service anymore," Joni said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 9.

Joni said that his party had coordinated with the authorities to close the space for sexual harassment perpetrators in these various transportation mode services.

KAI Commuter also apologized profusely to the victim for the inconvenience he felt. As a form of the company's commitment to providing excellent service, KAI Commuter expressed readiness to provide assistance both for legal reports and psychological assistance.

Joni emphasized his commitment to continue to provide Commuter Line transportation services that are friendly and comfortable for children, women, and people with disabilities either during the KRL or while in the station environment.

His party also routinely conducts maximum guidance to the frontliners on duty, especially in responding to reports from Commuter Line users. His party ensures that employees on duty are ready to serve customers according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Users who experience sexual harassment at the Commuter Line service are advised to immediately report to existing officers both at the station and on the way.

KAI Commuter also conducts announcements related to routine sexual harassment at stations and KRL, as an anticipatory and awareness measure, referring to Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence: anyone who commits immoral acts and/or sexual violence will receive severe punishment.

In addition to taking firm action against the perpetrators, to anticipate KAI Commuter also urges all users to be more careful and remain vigilant about the surrounding situation.

"We ensure that KAI Commuter will take firm action against perpetrators who have violated moral norms in the Commuter Line operation area," added Joni.

Commuter Line managers also periodically provide campaigns against sexual harassment, as well as strengthening victims.

He hopes that all users who see or become victims of sexual harassment will not be afraid to scream or ask other users for help or immediately report it to the officer.

Previously, a viral video on Instagram social media uploaded by the @indra_papsky account on Wednesday (2/4), the account explained that there was a woman who told about the sexual harassment she had experienced.

"Earlier, when I got off the escalator, didn't I find out that there was a guy behind me and he was poured in his pants," said the woman in the uploaded video.
