Seven Houses Of Residents In BNS West Lampung Were Damaged By Wild Elephants

A total of seven houses belonging to residents of Peninjauan Hamlet, Pekon (Village) Bumi Hantati, Bandar Negeri Suoh (BNS) District, West Lampung Regency were damaged by a herd of wild elephants.

Head of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park Resort (TNBBS) West Lampung, Sulki, said 18 houses were damaged by the residents of BNS.

"There are 18 wild elephants that damaged the farmer's resting place," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 9.

Until now, his party is still monitoring and dispelling a herd of wild elephants that are troubling local residents.

"The incident occurred yesterday (8/4) at around 16.00 WIB, the damaged house was used by the community for shelters in plantation areas," he said.

There were no casualties in this incident, but seven houses were destroyed by a herd of elephants.

"The incident did not take any lives and damage only to houses around the TNBBS area. The damage was quite severe, where the farmer's house was mostly made of wood," he said.

The public is asked to remain vigilant and can reduce gardening activities alone and coordinate with the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park Center (BBTBBS) if something similar happens.

"We convey this appeal to anticipate things that are not desirable to happen," he said.
