KPK Era Setyo Budiyanto Plans To Fight OTT To Prevent Corruption

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to re-enact the hand arrest operation (OTT). It is hoped that this enforcement effort can at the same time improve the system.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when asked about the silent operation which was only carried out once during the leadership era of Setyo Budiyanto et al. He said that in the future similar activities could be carried out if needed.

The first OTT targeted Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency on Saturday, March 15. Six people later became suspected of project bribery at the PUPR Service, namely Nopriansyah as Head of PUPR Office of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU); Members of the South Sumatra OKU DPRD, namely Commission III DPRD OKU Ferlan Juliansyah (FJ), Chairman of Commission III of the OKU DPRD M Fahrudin (MFR); Chairman of Commission II of the OKU DPRD Umi Hartati (UH); and M. Fauzi alias Pablo (MFZ) and Ahmad Sugeng Santoso (ASS) as private parties.

"We'll just wait because the Chairman of the KPK, in this case, Mr. Setyo Budiyanto, has committed to re-implementing or promoting arrests," said Tessa in an official KPK Instagram show entitled "Ask for a spokesman" quoted on Thursday, March 27.

Tessa said OTT should be seen not only as a form of cracking down on fraudulent but also prevention practices. And system improvement if in one location it is known that there are irregularities in this case corruption," he said.

"So we'll just have to wait in the future," continued the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Even so, Tessa said that the KPK certainly wants no more arrests in the future. However, this wish can only be achieved if there is no practice of corruption in the community.

"I think it's balanced, we hope that the community is better, the system is better so logically arresting hands doesn't exist because there is no corruption. We hope that in the future," he concluded.
