JAKARTA - The Representatives Council (DPR) plenary meeting on Thursday, March 20, will ratify the revision of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Law or Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the Indonesian National Army into law.

Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Dave Laksono confirmed the certainty. He admitted that the certainty was based on all factions in the DPR that had agreed to bring the revision of the TNI Law to level II or plenary.

"In the nearest plenary meeting, it is possible that a decision can be made this week," said Dave Laksono at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, yesterday, Tuesday.

Dave emphasized that there were no obstacles in discussing the revision of the TNI Law. The DPR has listened to various aspirations from the community and ensured that the revision of the TNI Law will not revive the dual function of the military, which was previously a concern for various parties.

In the level I working meeting, Commission I of the DPR together with the government have agreed to bring the revision of the TNI Law to a plenary meeting. Eight factions that expressed their approval include PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, Gerindra Party, Nasdem Party, PKB, PKS, PAN, Demokrat Party.

Previously, Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Utut Adianto ensured that this approval was given with several notes that would be part of the implementation of the Law later.

"Can the revision of the Law on Amendments to Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI be brought to Level II discussions to be approved as a Law?" Utut asked.

"Agreed," answered the council member, followed by a gavel tap as a sign of approval.

With this decision, the revision of the TNI Law is one step away from officially becoming a law, which will later regulate the role and authority of the TNI in more detail and in accordance with the needs of the times.
