Completing Paulus Tannos Files Is The Reason For The KPK To Examine 2 Ex-convicts In E-KTP Corruption Cases

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is trying to resolve the case file of Paulus Tannos, who is a suspect in the corruption case of the electronic identity card procurement project (e-KTP). That way, this case can be tried immediately after the Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura arrives in the country.

This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when asked about the examination of two ex-convicts as witnesses to this case, namely Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong and Sugiharto.

Meanwhile, Andi Narogong, who is an entrepreneur, was questioned by investigators on Wednesday, March 19. Meanwhile, Sugiharto as the former Director of Population Administration Information Management (PIAK) of the Directorate General of Dukcapil was worked on by investigators on Monday, March 17.

"Investigators summoned witnesses and asked for information to strengthen the suspicion against the person concerned (Paulus Tannos, ed)," Tessa told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday, March 19.

"So there is no longer a need for further processing except for examination as a suspect," he continued.

For information, Paulus Tannos is currently still in the process of returning to Indonesia from Singapore through an extradition mechanism. The suspect in this corruption case was on the run until he was finally caught by local authorities in January.

Previously reported, the corruption case in the e-KTP procurement project cost the state up to Rp2.3 trillion if referring to the report from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).

This case dragged the names of a number of high-ranking officials in the ministry, such as former Director General of Dukcapil Irman and former official at the Ministry of Home Affairs Sugiharto. In addition, there is also the name of former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto, former member of Commission III of the DPR Hanura Faction, Miryam S Haryani, a former member of Commission III of the DPR Markus Nari.

The KPK then named four new suspects in the e-KTP case in August 2020. They are former members of Commission II of the DPR from the Hanura Party faction, Miryam S Haryani, President Director of the Indonesian State Printing Corporation (PNRI) as well as Chairman of the PNRI Consortium Isnu Edhi Wijaya, Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of ID cards Husni Fahmi, and President Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra, Paulus Tanos.
