JAKATRTA - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KemenP2MI) immediately sent around 600,000 migrant workers to Saudi Arabia after the moratorium on the placement of workers to Middle Eastern countries was lifted.
The plan to send the migrant workers was conveyed by the Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding after meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, March 14.
"We will open this and we, the ministry, have held talks and negotiations with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs, in this case the Ministry of Labor of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the reopening," said Minister Karding, confiscated by Antara.
Minister Karding detailed that the shipment of 600 thousand workers to Saudi Arabia consisted of 400,000 domestic workers in the household environment and while the other 200 thousand people were formal workers.
The sending of Indonesian migrant workers will be ratified through a memorandum of understanding signed by the Government of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in the near future in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Then for the initial departure of Indonesian migrant workers to Saudi Arabia, starting in June 2025 with a quota that will later be adjusted from the Government of Indonesia.
