BANYUWANGI - The Banyuwangi Regency Government, East Java, together with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry Ketapang Branch, prepare a buffer zone for travelers during the 2025 Eid homecoming flow.
Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani in Banyuwangi, Tuesday, said the peak of the homecoming flow is close to Nyepi Day, so it is predicted that there will be a density at the Gilimanuk (Bali)-Ketapang (Banyuwangi) crossing.
"This year, Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri and Nyepi Day are close together, of course this will have an impact, especially the flow of Gilimanuk-Ketapang crossing homecoming. We suggest that if possible, people can go home early to avoid overcrowding," said Ipuk as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 11.
Eid al-Fitr 2025 is predicted to fall on March 31, while Nyepi Day is on March 29.
To honor Nyepi Day, the Ketapang Port Banyuwangi crossing will be closed starting March 29 at 00:00 WIB and will reopen March 30 at 06:00 WIB, while from Gilimanuk Port, it will be closed starting March 29 at 06:00 WITA and reopened March 30 at 06:00 WITA.
Ipuk conveyed that the density of vehicle flows at the Ketapang-Gilimanuk crossing is expected to increase because it coincides with the peak of the homecoming flow which is predicted to be on 27-28 March 2025.
To anticipate the density of homecoming flow, continued Ipuk, a number of buffer zones have been prepared as temporary rest locations for travelers, and local governments have also alerted officers and health workers.
"The resting place can be used by travelers to rest and restore energy, maintain stamina and health during the trip," said Regent Ipuk.
Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Transportation Service, Nyoman Sudira Atmaja, said that four buffer zone locations were prepared, namely ASDP parking lot in Bulusan Village, Sritanjung Terminal, Grand Watu Dodol.
"If these three locations are still not sufficient, they will be directed to food areas in Bangsring Village," he said.
