TANGERANG - The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Tangerang Regency, Soma Atmaja, responded to the circulation of a circular issued by the Community Empowerment Institute (LPM) of Bitung Jaya Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency, which asked for holiday allowances (THR) to companies in the area.

Soma emphasized that such actions cannot be justified and will be given strict sanctions to the village head (Kades) and his staff who have been proven to have asked the company for THR.

Soma stated that his party would investigate the veracity of the circular to find out whether the THR request submitted to the companies really happened.

"We will check (cross-check). It is not appropriate for a village head and his staff to do something like that. It is as if the THR is something that must be given by the company, it is not allowed," said Soma when confirmed, Tuesday, March 11.

He also emphasized that this warning applies to all state civil servants (ASN) and officials within the Tangerang Regency government. All forms of receiving gratuities, including THR requests, are prohibited based on the Law and instructions from the Tangerang Regent.

"Prohibited receiving gratuities from any party because this is something that is prohibited," he said.

Soma appealed to the public to report to his party if they found the village head, ASN, or government officials who asked the company or other parties for THR.

"We will definitely give a warning according to the applicable regulations. They have received salaries, allowances, and THR from the government, so they should not ask from other parties," said Soma.

The circular letter that became a polemic was issued by the Chairman of LPM Bitung Jaya, Jayadi, who stated a request for THR funds to companies within Bitung Jaya Village.

"We ask companies and entrepreneurs who are in our neighborhood to please provide THR funds. We will receive the small amount of gifts with pleasure," Jayadi wrote in the letter.

The Tangerang Regency government has stated that it will take firm action if it is proven that the request was made with the intention of getting personal gain.
