TANGERANG - The accident involving a high school student with the initials KVP (16) who drove a BMW car and hit a motorcycle rider with the initials AM (37) on Monday, March 10 in front of Warung Mamah Fadil, Buaran Indah, Tangerang City, is in serious spotlight.

The police confirmed that this accident was caused by the lack of driving skills for KVP who were still underage. This was confirmed by the Head of Laka Polres Metro Tangerang Kota, AKP Badruzzaman, on Tuesday, March 11.

"I don't think he is skilled, because he is still a minor. The driver's license doesn't exist yet and he is still 16 years old, doesn't have a driver's license, he's still in school," said Badruzzaman.

From a legal perspective, the use of motorized vehicles by minors without a driving license (SIM) is a serious violation. This shows that understanding of traffic regulations among teenagers needs to be emphasized more in the education system.

In addition, supervisory actions from parents are also an important aspect that needs to be reviewed. Providing access to luxury motorized vehicles to children who are not old enough can pose a risk of accidents like what happened in this case.

The police stated that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol based on the results of urine tests. However, this incident remains a major evaluation for educators, parents, and law enforcement officials in providing a more stringent understanding and supervision of children.

Currently, KVP has been taken to the Tangerang City Metro Police for further investigation with assistance from the Correctional Center (Bapas) considering that the perpetrator is still a minor.

"We are still investigating. Later, after examining witnesses at the TKP, we will conduct a case title. Because the perpetrators are minors, the child criminal law will be applied," said Badruzzaman.

This incident is an important lesson for the public regarding the role of education in shaping legal awareness and responsibility in using motorized vehicles.
