Seeing a group of youths clashing in the middle of the road, the police immediately acted quickly to disperse them. Some of the perpetrators tried to escape and threw away evidence, but were finally arrested.

During the operation, the police confiscated two sharp weapons that were allegedly used in a brawl as well as two cellphones used to communicate before the action took place.

After being secured, the perpetrators were immediately taken to the Sawah Besar Police Headquarters to undergo further investigation. The police are also still investigating the motive for the brawl and the possibility of provocateurs inviting them to clash.

The police chief appealed to parents to pay more attention to their children's interactions, especially at night.

"We invite the public, especially parents, to play an active role in preventing children from engaging in brawls that could endanger their own lives or others," he said.

The seven perpetrators will be charged with Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 Article 2 Paragraph (1) regarding possession of sharp weapons without a permit, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

Central Jakarta Metro Police emphasized that they will continue to increase intensive patrols to prevent street criminal acts.

"We will not provide space for actions that are troubling the community. The patrol team will continue to move to maintain security and order in the jurisdiction of the Central Jakarta Metro Police," said the Police Chief.
