DPR Asks The Food Task Force To Take Strict Action On Commodity Hoarders During Ramadan

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Kawendra Lukistian, welcomed the formation of a Food Task Force involving various parties, including law enforcement officials to monitor distribution and prevent commodity hoarding practices. Especially during Ramadan and before Eid al-Fitr.

"This Food Task Force has been formed, and in it there are law enforcers who are ready to act if violations are found. If any person is proven to have hoarded, they must be dealt with firmly indiscriminately, because it has violated the rules," said Kawendra, Saturday, March 8.

The Gerindra legislator hopes that with strict supervision from the government and the Food Task Force, price stability and availability of foodstuffs during Ramadan can be available and affordable by the community.

Moreover, he continued, food supply during Ramadan became the concern of President Prabowo Subianto. The President also emphasized that the government continues to monitor the production and price of food commodities.

Therefore, Kawendra reminded the Ministry of Trade, Bulog, and other stakeholders to ensure food stocks and prices remain stable to maintain people's purchasing power in this fasting month.

"We ask friends from the Ministry of Trade to control price fluctuations in several areas, so that people can get food commodities at affordable prices," Kawendra appealed.

On the other hand, Kawendra also encourages the government to update or update regularly regarding price developments and food stocks. This aims to make the public aware of market conditions clearly.

"The Ministry of Trade and also Perum Bulog must ensure price stability and stock of various commodities. And of course, we continue to ask that there be concrete steps in curbing striking price differences in the field," he added.
