Soetta Airport Customs Thwarts Methamphetamine Smuggling In Concentrator Oxygen Packages

TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Airport Customs and Excise managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle 17 grams of methamphetamine which was sent from Malaysia to Medan City, North Sumatra. In this case, two perpetrators with the initials ES and JB were arrested.

Head of KPU Type C Customs and Excise at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, revealed that the disclosure of this case occurred on February 25, 2025. The alleged smuggling began with the officers' suspicion of a package containing oxygen concentrators sent from Malaysia to Medan.

"We suspected the package and then carried out an in-depth examination using a K-9 sniffer dog. After being examined, methamphetamine or methamphetamine was found hidden in an oxygen concentrator tube," said Gatot.

After the package was dismantled, officers found two tubes containing clear crystals. The laboratory test results showed that the crystal was positive for methamphetamine.

Following up on these findings, Soekarno Hatta Airport Customs and Excise coordinated with Soekarno Hatta Airport Police to conduct further investigations. As a result, the joint team managed to arrest two perpetrators with the initials ES and JB in North Sumatra on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Currently, the two perpetrators have been taken to the Soekarno Hatta Airport Police Station to undergo further investigations to uncover a wider network of drug smuggling.
