JAKARTA - 29 members of Colombia's security forces were kidnapped from two locations in the province of Cauca following an attack by a faction of the FARC dissident.
The incident occurred in El Plateado, where security forces intervened for a month against armed groups, and La Hacienda, the Colombian defense ministry said.
The ministry blamed the dissident of the Carlos Patino faction of former FARC rebels who rejected the 2016 peace agreement for the kidnapping.
"The lives and security of the members of the kidnapped security forces are the direct responsibility of those who commit this heinous crime," the ministry said.
