Police Arrest Penodong Gang That "Brushed" French Foreigners In Sunda Kelapa Embankment

JAKARTA - A foreign citizen (WNA) from France, Parent Marion Marie, became a victim of detention at the 6th Post Embankment of Sunda Kelapa Port, North Jakarta (Jakut). Currently, the police have arrested three people who are the perpetrators.

"Satreskrim Tanjung Priok Port Police in less than 12 hours managed to arrest the perpetrators, three perpetrators," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Friday, March 7.

The three perpetrators had the initials AP, UTA, and TM. They were arrested in different places but still in one densely populated residential area, on Thursday, March 6.

The stabbing began when the victim was in the vicinity of the embankment with his daughter. Then, one of the perpetrators approached him.

"The perpetrator offered the mode of helping the victim climb to the top of the embankment to get a good photo spot," he said.

Without suspicion, Parent Marion Marie received the assistance. However, it was actually used by the perpetrators.

When he was about to be lifted to the top of the embankment, one of the perpetrators immediately took out a knife. Then, pointed the victim at him and asked him to hand over the money.

"The suspect stated 'you have money' then the victim declared 'no'. At that time, the perpetrator saw the victim carrying valuables," he said.

So, the perpetrator immediately pulled the camera. After successfully controlling it, they immediately fled.

"Immediately forcibly pulled it from the victim's body after that the perpetrator fled," said Ade.

With the arrest of the perpetrators, they are suspected of under Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with violence. So that they face up to 7 years in prison.
