Saudi Arabian Authority Opens Itikaf Online Registration At Grand Mosques And Prophet's Mosque

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabian authorities began Wednesday opening online registrations for pilgrims who wish to commit itikaf at the Grand, Makkah and Prophet's Mosque in Medina in the Holy Month of Ramadan this year.

The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque appealed to those who wish to carry out the worship to choose a mosque, apply for registration, watch educational videos to familiarize themselves with the worship, and review the requirements that must be met during the itikaf period, which takes place from 20 Ramadan to the end of the Isha Prayer the night before Eid al-Fitr, quoted from Arab News on March 6.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and are citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or have a valid population status. Free itikaf permits and registration requests can be submitted at eserv.wmn.gov.sa.

Itikaf is the act of staying in the mosque for the last 10 days of Ramadan. During this time, people devoted themselves to worship Allah SWT as long as what Muslims considered the 10 best nights of the year.

As previously reported, government agencies in Makkah, Saudi Arabia are improving the best service for pilgrims, including Umrah pilgrims, with estimates of a surge in pilgrims from within and outside the country.

The General Authority for the Maintenance of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched plans for the Ramadan season with several projects, the Saudi Press Agency reports.

Various supports have been prepared, among others, the number of electric golf cars added to 400 units at 11 locations in the Grand Mosque to prayer areas in the two mosques has been prepared to accommodate the highest number of worshipers while ensuring comfort during worship.

The authority has also launched a Pedestrian Guide initiative, which provides trained teams to assist visitors and Umrah pilgrims in exploring mosques and responding to questions in various languages.
