DPR Approves Naturalization Of Emil Audero, Joey Pelulessy And Dean James

JAKARTA - The Indonesian House of Representatives approved the application for the naturalization of three football players of Indonesian descent through the Plenary Meeting forum for the Second Session of 2024-2025 which was held at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 6.

The three naturalized players, namely Joey Pelupessy, Dean James, and Emil Audero, are projected to defend the Indonesian national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.

"Today's agenda, one, is an application for the approval of the consideration of granting citizenship to the Republic of Indonesia, followed by decision making," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Adies Kadir as chair of the meeting.

Adies said, based on presidential letter number R15/Pres/03/2025, R/16 Pres/03/2025 and R17/Pres/03/2025 dated March 3, 2025. This is a request for consideration for the granting of citizenship to the Republic of Indonesia on behalf of Joey Mathijs Pelulessy's brother, Emil Audero Mulyadi's brother, and Dean Ruben James' brother, in accordance with the replacement meeting of the Bamus leadership of the DPR and the leadership of the faction assigned Commission X and Commission XIII to carry out the discussion, and it will then be decided in a plenary meeting.

Based on the discussion of commission X and Commission XIII RI, it was agreed to give considerations for Indonesian citizenship to Joey Mathijs Pelulessy, brother Emil Audero Mulyadi, and brother Dean Ruben James.

"In this regard, you seek the approval of the plenary people today whether the granting of citizenship to the Republic of Indonesia on that name can be approved," Adies asked, followed by a hammer of approval.

Furthermore, the approval will be followed up in accordance with the applicable mechanism.
