20 Villages In West Aceh Submerged By River Overflow Floods

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Aceh Regency noted that as of Wednesday night, as many as 20 villages spread across four sub-districts in the area were flooded with water levels ranging from 30 to 40 centimeters.

"Currently we are still monitoring a number of locations that were flooded, friends are still working in the field," said Acting Head of BPBD West Aceh Regency, Teuku Ronal, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.

The villages that were flooded included Kaway XVI District, consisting of Alue Tampak Village, Padang Mancang Village, Gampong Simpang Village, Mesjid Village/Gampong, Keudee Aron Village, Beureugang Village.

Then Pasi Jeumpa Village, Sawang Atlantat Village, Meunasah Ara Village, Palimbungan Village, Meunasah Rayeuk Village, Pasi Teungoh Village and Tumpok Ladang Village.

Teuku Ronal said the flood also inundated four villages in Meureubo District including Pasi Aceh Tunong Village, Pulo Teungoh Village, Pasi Masjid Village and Ujong Tanjong Village.

In Johan Pahlawan Subdistrict, the flood inundated Pasie Leuhan Village and Lapang Village, as well as in Woyla Barat District, floods hit Napai Village.

The cause of the flood natural disaster in four sub-districts in West Aceh Regency was the overflow of the Krueng Meureubo and Krueng Woyla rivers after this area was hit by high-intensity rain.

As an effort to carry out disaster management, the West Aceh BPBD has also deployed a Pusdalops rapid reaction team, to monitor and collect data to locations affected by the flood.

"We are also still collecting data on locations that are inundated by floods, and locations where there is damage due to natural disasters," said Teuku Ronal.
