North Sumatra Police Arrest ASN Suspect Of Fraud Fictitious Project Mode Of IDR 1.2 Billion

The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) arrested a state civil servant (ASN) with the initials TMH for a case of alleged fictitious projects worth IDR 1.2 billion.

Acting Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Yudhi Surya Markus Pinem, said the suspect at that time served as Head of the High School Section at the North Sumatra Regional VII Education Office Branch.

The suspect with the initialsTMH was arrested in connection with the alleged involvement of fraud against a businessman with the investment mode for school needs procurement projects.

This case began with a fictitious project offer with the lure of big profits so that the victim was deceived to billions of rupiah.

"The suspect convinced the victim by showing the project documents for the procurement of school needs worth Rp. 5.7 billion which is claimed to come from the North Sumatra Education Office APBD. He also promised a profit of 30 percent within 3 months," said Kombes Yudhi as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.

The victim finally believed, then handed over funds in stages up to a total of Rp1.2 billion, both in cash and transfer to the suspect's account.

"However, until the promised deadline, the project never existed, and the victim's money was not returned," he said.

On that basis, the victim HS reported this case to the North Sumatra Regional Police. Following up on that, the North Sumatra Police have summoned the suspect twice.

"Because we were not cooperative, we issued a warrant to bring and finally arrest the suspect," he said.

Kombes Pol. Yudhi said personnel confiscated a number of evidences, including proof of transfers and receipts worth Rp 1.2 billion, accounts for intermediary transactions, as well as a letter of cooperation agreement between the victim and the suspect.
