Left Alone, Elderly With Stroke In Tangerang Dies When His House Burns

TANGERANG - An elderly man named Satri (79) died in a fire that broke out at his home on Jalan Sekretaris, Cipete, Pinang, Tangerang City, on Tuesday night, March 4.

Tangerang City BPBD Head of Emergency and Logistics, Andia Rahman, explained that when the fire broke out, the victim was sick due to a stroke.

Situasi semakin buruk karena keluargannya sedang berada di luar rumah, sehingga Satiri tidak dapat menyelamatkan diri.

"His wife is going to the market. Due to her weak body condition due to a stroke, when there was a fire, the victim could not make a rescue," Andia said when confirmed on Wednesday, March 5.

The fire was first discovered by local residents who saw a puff of smoke from the victim's house. Shortly thereafter, the fire grew, so residents immediately contacted the Tangerang City firefighters.

The fire brigade team was immediately dispatched to the location to extinguish the fire. When found, the victim was in his bed partially burned.

"When we evacuated after the fire was extinguished, the victim was found in a burning half-body condition," Andia explained.

After the fire was successfully extinguished, the victim was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the authorities.

It is estimated that the loss due to this fire reached IDR 50 million.
