JAKARTA - A boxing coach from Sorong, Papua, with the initials MS (39) was finally arrested by the police after his actions of exhibitionisting a 10-year-old girl went viral on social media.

The incident that occurred in Gang Kenanga Tiga, Kampung Sawah Baru, Ulujami, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, February 26, angered the public.

Kapolsek Pesanggrahan AKP Seala Syah Alam said that the perpetrator was successfully secured in the Cigombong area, Bogor, West Java, on Monday, March 3, at around 01.00 WIB.

"Alhamdulillah, the perpetrators can be secured in Cigombong, Bogor, early this morning at around 01.00 WIB," said Seala to reporters at the Pesanggrahan Police, Monday, March 3.

Incident Chronology

According to Seala, this incident was first revealed from a video that was widely circulated on social media. In the video, the victim who was returning home from school was suddenly approached by the perpetrator who was riding a silver motorbike.

"On the way home, the perpetrator followed the victim and called him. When the victim turned around, the perpetrator had already removed his genitals. The victim immediately ran into fear, but the perpetrator continued to chase while continuing to commit indecent acts," said Seala.

The frightened victim immediately reported the incident to his family. Shortly thereafter, the video footage of the incident went viral and attracted the attention of the public and the police.

Perpetrators Escape And Change Appearance

After knowing the action was in the spotlight, the perpetrator tried to escape to Bogor. He even tried to change the appearance of his motorbike from silver to black with spray paint (pilox) to eliminate traces. Not only that, he also changed the color of the helmet he was using.

At the time of the incident, the perpetrator was wearing a silver motorbike. However, because he realized that the video was viral, the perpetrator changed the color of his motorbike to black, including his helmet," said Seala.

Heavy Punishment Threat

Now, MS has been secured at the Pesanggrahan Police and officially named a suspect. He was charged with various articles, including Article 414 Paragraph 1 Letter C of the Criminal Code, Subsidiary Article 281 of the Criminal Code, Juncto Article 10 and Article 36 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 40 of 2008 concerning Pornography, and Juncto Article 5 of Law Number 12 of 2022.

"The maximum punishment for the perpetrators is 10 years in prison," said Seala.

The police also urge the public to continue to be vigilant and immediately report if they experience or see similar actions. This incident is an important reminder for parents to supervise their children more, especially when traveling alone. The police are also committed to taking firm action against perpetrators of sexual crimes against children in order to create a safer environment.
