Residents Fainted Due To Fire Smoke In Pondok Bambu, Medical Team Struggles To Evacuate

A great fire hit a densely populated area on Jalan Tegal Amba, RT 02/01, Pondok Bambu Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta, on Friday (28/2) night. As a result of this incident, a resident who is the owner of the house fainted after breathing thick smoke.

"The victim fainted due to too much smoke, he owns the house," said one firefighter at the scene.

Monitoring in the field showed that the medical team from PMI, BPBD, and Damkar rescue moved quickly to evacuate victims who looked weak. With the breathing apparatus, the shirtless man was immediately taken on a stretcher out of the fire site.

"Where is the ambulance? Take the victim to the ambulance quickly!" shouted an officer in the midst of panic.

Meanwhile, firefighters are still struggling to extinguish the fire that continues to spread in the area. The magnitude of the gusts of wind and the large amount of flammable material make the fire difficult to control.

"Take a new path! Spray it from another direction!" exclaimed the resident who helped the officers extinguish the fire.

Until 19.30 WIB, the blackout process was still ongoing. Officers face narrow access constraints in settlements, making efforts to extinguish the fire even more difficult.

The exact cause of this fire is not yet known, but the authorities are still investigating. Residents are advised to always be aware of the potential for fires, especially in densely populated settlements.
