Police officers from the Jombang Resort Police, East Java, raided the home industry for the manufacture of white wine-type liquor in Ngoro District, Jombang Regency. The turnover from the production of this white wine is estimated at IDR 1 billion.
Jombang Police Chief AKBP Ardi Kurniawan said the case could be revealed from reports of restless residents who smelled bad from houses in Sumberjo Village, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency.
"We got information from the public and we studied it. The police said the home industry for wine-type liquor in Sumberjo Village, Ngoro. We found around 46 drums containing fermented white wine," he said in Jombang, Antara, Friday, February 28.
He said in that case the police arrested two people in the raid on Thursday (27/2) that night. The police are still investigating the information from the person concerned, including when to operate and the purpose of marketing.
The police have brought two suspects, namely PU (46) a resident of Sumberjo Hamlet, Jombok Village, Ngoro District and JS (43) a resident of Tempuran Hamlet, Pundong Village, Diwek District, Jombang. Both are still being investigated intensively for network development.
"We have secured two suspects and we are processing them in accordance with applicable regulations. We are investigating where they are selling and are still in further progress," he said.
He added that this raid was also part of the commitment of the Jombang Police in eradicating the circulation of liquor, including types of wine and others in Jombang. This is also an effort to suppress criminal acts of crime due to consuming alcohol.
The police confiscated all the items used in the manufacture of liquor, including drums and tools. The items are currently at the Jombang Police Headquarters as evidence.
For turnover, the Police Chief estimates up to Rp1 billion. However, for the location of the sale, officers are still investigating, including customers.
"Including our tools, we also secure. Turnover is around Rp. 1 billion and hopefully no one will drink. Alhamdulillah, it can be revealed and can save residents in Jombang and its surroundings and can suppress criminal acts of crime in Jombang," he added.
