4 Residents Fall Into The River In Sabang Aceh Successfully Rescued By Air Base Personnel

ACEH - Air Base (Lanud) personnel Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM) rescued four residents of Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar, Aceh, who fell into a river on the side of the SIM Air Base towards Krueng Raya Village, Sabang City, Aceh.

Head of the Air Force Information Service, First Marshal of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Ardi Syahri, said the incident began when two adults and two children suddenly fell into the river.

"Witing the incident, SIM Air Base personnel who were at the location immediately acted quickly by plunging into the water to save the victims," Ardi said in a written statement, in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, February 28.

The incident occurred after shooting practice in the first quarter of the 2025 fiscal year at Jupiter Shooting Field, Aceh Besar. In the evacuation process, he said, three of the four victims were found quickly. However, one child is still trapped in the water because he is trapped by a rickshaw.

Hearing the screams of the victim's parents who were still missing their child, one of the personnel at the SIM Air Base, namely Second Sergeant (Serda) Akbar, along with other personnel were diving again to find the child.

"Sigap, Serda Akbar managed to save the victim who was stuck at the bottom of the river," he said.

After all the victims were successfully evacuated, Ardi said that they immediately received medical assistance at the SIM Air Base Clinic.

Furthermore, the health team ensured that the child who was previously trapped in the rickshaw was in a safe condition after receiving further treatment.

According to him, the quick action and courage of SIM Air Base personnel in helping residents received appreciation from the local community.

"This incident is clear evidence of their dedication not only in carrying out military duties, but also in maintaining public safety," said Ardi.
